Cali, 2025. From August 13 to 15, Stockholm Precision Tools (SPT) will participate in the 20th Colombian Geology Congress (XX Congreso Colombiano de Geología CCG) in Cali, an academic gathering for the geoscience community in Colombia that brings together students, companies, and professionals from across the sector.
SPT Showcases Structural Geology Solutions
The SPT Colombia team—Julian Ayala, José Daniel Becerra, and Fabio Nelson Tovar—will be at Booth 20 presenting two of our tools for acquiring structural data in geological and mineral exploration projects: StructMaster™ and CoreMaster™.
StructMaster™ is SPT’s latest innovation and the first portable tool developed specifically for structural logging of oriented drill cores. Its automatic processing technology significantly reduces human error, ensuring consistent results in the field. Equipped with a high-resolution camera, it captures detailed core images, detects orientation lines, and automatically calculates structural angles.
Thanks to its integration with drillhole trajectory data (planned or measured), StructMaster™ precisely determines the spatial orientation of each geological structure, enabling faster and better-informed decision-making.
The data can be recalculated at any time and from anywhere in the cloud, eliminating the need for physical access to the core and ensuring complete traceability. Integration with SPT SmartCloud™ enables remote access, team collaboration, and automatic report generation.
Meanwhile, CoreMaster™ is a multi-diameter digital orientation tool designed to capture the orientation of geological cores with high precision, even in the most demanding environments. It operates without interrupting diamond drilling, thereby optimizing time and field efficiency.
This digital system allows for quick, simple, and tool-free core orientation recording. Its connection with the handheld device enables real-time data validation and visualization, minimizing the risk of errors.
Throughout the three-day event, geologists, researchers, and students will be able to witness live demonstrations of these technologies that are transforming how structural information is captured and validated in exploration projects.
Geoscientific Innovation and Outreach Space
The 2025 Colombian Geology Congress, organized by the Colombian Geological Society (Sociedad Colombiana de Geología), will serve as a key platform for advancing technological development, promoting sustainable resource exploration, and supporting public policies focused on sustainability. With the theme “Geosciences That Inspire, Knowledge That Transforms,” the event will emphasize the vital role of earth sciences in the energy transition, mitigating climate change, managing geological risks, and fostering a comprehensive understanding of terrestrial, marine, and atmospheric systems.
Along with a technology showcase, the congress will feature academic discussions, specialized workshops, and opportunities to form strategic partnerships between universities, industries, government agencies, and leaders in scientific innovation.
SPT’s participation in this academic congress reaffirms its commitment to advancing mining technology in Colombia and around the world by delivering reliable, efficient, and field-ready solutions that address today’s exploration challenges.
