Stockholm Precision Tools (SPT) will participate in the 16th Sonora International Mining Congress 2026, taking place November 9–14 at Expo Forum Hermosillo, Mexico.
Organized by the Sonora District of the Mexican Association of Mining, Metallurgical and Geological Engineers (AIMMGM), the event will bring together mining companies, technical specialists, and industry professionals to exchange knowledge, explore technological developments, and discuss challenges facing the mining sector.
SPT will be present at Booth #175, where Francisco Reyna, Edgardo Santamaría, Ignacio Cano, and Josué Navarro from SPT Mexico will meet visitors interested in learning about the company’s technologies and discussing their mineral exploration projects.
SPT’s participation will focus on measurement technologies and digital data management, connecting different stages of mineral exploration, from drilling preparation to the review of geological information.

Technologies Supporting Different Stages of Mineral Exploration
Mineral exploration projects generate technical information throughout drilling and geological assessment.
Initial drill rig alignment establishes a directional reference before drilling begins, while downhole surveys provide measurements of the actual drill hole trajectory at different depths.
Core orientation and structural logging then contribute information about the characteristics and spatial position of geological structures observed in recovered core.
SPT develops technologies for these applications, connecting field data acquisition with subsequent technical review and digital data management.
Polestar Aligner™: Drill Rig Alignment
Establishing the planned drilling direction is an important step before a drill hole begins.
Polestar Aligner™ is a gyroscopic alignment system that uses a true north reference to provide azimuth and inclination measurements during drill rig setup.
By using a true north reference, it does not depend on a magnetic compass. This is particularly relevant in environments where ferrous materials or nearby equipment may affect magnetic measurements.
The initial alignment record provides a directional reference that can be reviewed alongside subsequent downhole surveys.
GyroMaster™ Evo: Downhole Surveying
As drilling progresses, downhole surveying provides information about the actual drill hole trajectory and allows technical teams to assess potential deviations from the planned path.
GyroMaster™ Evo is a north-seeking gyroscopic system designed to measure drill hole azimuth and inclination using true north as its directional reference.
The instrument records directional measurements at different depths, allowing geological and drilling teams to review the actual drill hole path and compare it with the planned trajectory.
With a compatible CoreRetriever™ configuration, GyroMaster™ Evo can also support surveying during core retrieval through the gyro while coring method.
This approach allows directional measurements to be collected as part of an existing drilling operation, without requiring a separate run dedicated exclusively to surveying.

SmartCore™: Digital Core Orientation
Core orientation provides a reference for relating geological structures observed in recovered core to their original position underground.
SmartCore™ is a digital core orientation system integrated directly into the inner tube head assembly.
Once the core reaches the surface, orientation information can be retrieved through Bluetooth communication with a compatible handheld device, simplifying the reading and marking process.
The recorded data can be synchronized with SmartCloud™, where it becomes available for review alongside other project information.
This digital approach helps preserve the context of geological observations and provides orientation data for subsequent structural logging and interpretation.

StructMaster™: Digital Structural Logging
Structural logging allows geologists to document fractures, veins, bedding, and other geological structures identified in recovered core.
StructMaster™ is a digital solution designed to record structural measurements on oriented drill core using images and associated data.
The application allows geologists to document geological structures, calculate alpha and beta angles, and review measurements alongside their corresponding images.
By retaining measurements together with their visual context, StructMaster™ supports subsequent technical review and allows geological observations to be revisited without relying solely on handwritten records.
The information can also be synchronized with SmartCloud™, connecting structural logging data with other project records.

SmartCloud™: Data Management, Traceability, and Interoperability
The value of exploration measurements extends beyond field data acquisition. Technical teams also need access to the information required to understand, review, and use those measurements throughout a project.
SmartCloud™ is SPT’s digital platform for centralizing and managing data from compatible technologies, bringing together information generated across different exploration workflows.
The platform supports data organization, access, and review, together with quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) processes. Its traceability capabilities help project teams identify and review records generated during field operations.
SmartCloud™ also provides an Open REST API, enabling authorized external systems to retrieve supported structured downhole survey and trajectory data through an interface with defined authentication and access permissions.
This approach reflects SPT’s focus on connecting field measurements with geological data management and analysis.
Rather than treating individual instruments as isolated systems, SPT aims to maintain the information collected during drilling in a structured environment where it can be reviewed and used within its technical context.
