Stockholm Precision Tools (SPT) will participate in Colombia Gold Symposium 2026, taking place November 10–11 at the InterContinental Medellín Hotel in Colombia.
Organized by CGS Events, the conference will bring together mining companies, technical specialists, investors, and exploration professionals to discuss gold and copper projects and developments across the mining sector.
Fabio Tovar, Country Manager; Julián Ayala, Field Geological Engineer; Erika Duque, Business Development Geologist; and José Daniel Becerra Cabrera, Regional Manager, will represent SPT Colombia at Booth #25.
SPT’s participation will focus on StructMaster™ and SmartCloud™, two technologies connecting digital structural logging with geological data management and technical review. The team will also contribute to the conference program with a technical presentation addressing data traceability in drilling operations.

Drilling with Traceability: Less Risk, Greater Certainty
On November 10, 2026, Julián Ayala, a specialist in instrumentation and applied structural geology, will deliver “Perforación con Trazabilidad: Menos riesgo, más certeza” (Drilling with Traceability: Less Risk, Greater Certainty). The presentation is scheduled within the 4:00–5:30 PM Gold program block.
Data traceability is particularly important in mineral exploration, where field measurements are later used to interpret geological structures and assess subsurface conditions.
Reviewing a measurement requires more than its final value. Technical teams also need to understand where it came from, which references were used, and what supporting records are available.
For example, reviewing a structural measurement may require the original core image, its orientation reference line, and the corresponding drill hole trajectory data. When this information remains associated with the original record, geologists can revisit observations and identify potential inconsistencies before using the data in subsequent analyses.
This provides the technical context for the presentation: maintaining reviewable information that helps teams manage uncertainty during exploration and drilling workflows.

StructMaster™: Structural Measurements Supported by Visual Records
Structural logging of oriented drill core involves documenting fractures, veins, bedding, and other geological features identified during diamond core drilling.
These measurements help geologists understand the orientation of structures underground, provided that the appropriate references are available to relate them to their original position.
StructMaster™ is SPT’s digital solution for structural logging of oriented drill core. It captures geological structures through images and links each observation to its corresponding measurements.
The application calculates alpha and beta angles and retains the images used during logging. Geologists can subsequently revisit the observations and recalculate measurements without requiring physical access to the recovered core.
StructMaster™ also includes stereonet visualization, allowing structural orientations to be reviewed graphically alongside the available geological information.
These capabilities support quality-control activities when teams need to check a measurement, revisit an interpretation, or compare observations recorded by different professionals.
Digital logging does not replace the need for a valid core orientation reference. It does, however, make recorded observations easier to revisit using the supporting information captured in the field.

SmartCloud™: Centralized Data Management and Technical Review
Structural measurements become more useful when they can be accessed alongside other project information.
SmartCloud™ is SPT’s digital platform for centralizing and managing data generated by compatible technologies.
Through its connection with StructMaster™, structural measurements and their associated images can be synchronized with the platform and made available for subsequent review.
SmartCloud™ also provides quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) capabilities, traceability functions, and access management tools that support the review of technical records throughout a project.
One important application is downhole survey data management. The platform supports records collected using compatible SPT technologies and can also import supported third-party trajectory data through CSV files.
This information can be used within StructMaster™ to calculate the dip and dip direction of geological structures using measured azimuth and inclination values at the relevant depth.
Using measured survey data rather than relying solely on the planned drill hole trajectory allows structural calculations to reflect the directional information available for the borehole.

Interoperability Through the Open REST API
SmartCloud™ also provides an Open REST API, enabling authorized external systems to retrieve supported structured downhole survey and trajectory data.
This capability supports data exchange with other technical environments when a compatible integration is available, subject to the platform’s defined authentication, permissions, and quality-control processes.
There is an important distinction between data acquired directly through SPT technologies and information imported from external systems. Third-party records can be used within supported workflows, but traceability before import depends on the information available from the original source.
Recognizing this distinction helps teams evaluate imported data without assuming that every record has the same acquisition history.
