- Stockholm Precision Tools will participate in the 18th edition of Expominas, taking place from July 9 to 11, 2025, at booth 133 in the Metropolitan Convention Center in Quito.
- The SPT Ecuador team will present StructMaster™ for the first time in the country—an innovative solution for oriented core logging that enables remote, real-time verification and recalibration of structural angles from anywhere.
- On July 11, César Rubín, Global Geologist at SPT, will give a technical presentation on StructMaster™. The session will take place at 7:45 p.m. (Ecuador time) in Room 2, where he will explain the tool’s key features, benefits, and operating principles.
Quito, 2025. Stockholm Precision Tools will be present at Expominas 2025 from July 9 to 11. The 18th edition of this international mining exhibition will take place at the Metropolitan Convention Center in Quito, bringing together industry experts, energy companies, government agencies, and consultants from across the Americas, Europe, and Asia.
At booth 133, the SPT team, Alexandre Abascal, César Rubín, Nelson Utreras, Alexia Amaya, Jorge Guarochico and Alfredo Serrano will welcome visitors and showcase the advanced technological solutions that have positioned SPT as a global leader in directional drilling and mining exploration technology.
SPT will present its tools for rig alignment, directional surveying, core orientation, and structural logging, including GyroRigAligner™, GyroMaster™, CoreMaster™, and—for the first time in Ecuador—StructMaster™. These technologies are designed to optimize accuracy, efficiency, and data quality in mining drilling operations.
“The arrival of StructMaster to our country’s mining industry contributes to improving structural analysis in environments with strict quality control standards. This technological innovation by SPT for oriented core structural logging in diamond drilling automates the logging process through high-resolution image capture—identifying structures, calculating angular data in real time, and delivering precise, traceable orientation results anytime, all with a single, user-friendly device. We’re excited to present it at Expominas this year and invite all attendees to visit us at our booth” comments Nelson Utreras, operations coordinator in Ecuador.
- StructMaster™ s a portable solution for structural logging of oriented cores. It recalculates alpha and beta angles from high-resolution images without having to return to the core, ensuring full traceability and enabling verification at any time and from any location.
- Gyro RigAligner™ aligns drill rigs in under five minutes, eliminating repetitive adjustments and downtime. Ideal for surface and underground operations, it determines true north and inclination from a portable device with continuous measurement and real-time data.
- GyroMaster™ is the fastest and most accurate solid-state gyroscope in the industry, designed to deliver highly reliable trajectory measurements even in extreme conditions. With Navibore™ technology, it measures azimuth continuously at all angles, including vertical, and in zones with magnetic interference, at depths up to 4,000 meters. Rugged, user-friendly, and cloud-synced, it enables critical decisions with trustworthy data and a secure custody chain.
- CoreMaster™ is a multi-diameter digital core orientation tool that records core orientation, inclination, and temperature without interrupting drilling. Designed for diamond drilling in demanding environments, its interchangeable adapters allow for quick field adjustments, reducing time, risks, and operational costs.

Expominas 2025 will focus on key issues for the future of mining, including responsible mining practices, regulatory challenges, and foreign investment. Representatives from more than 12 countries across North and South America, Europe, and Asia are expected to attend. The event will also feature conferences, panel discussions, and roundtables centered on innovation, sustainability, and project development.
As part of the official program, César Rubín will lead a technical talk on StructMaster™, SPT’s portable solution for oriented core logging. The session, scheduled for July 11 at 7:45 p.m. in Room 2, is aimed at geologists and mining professionals seeking to improve geological data acquisition through cutting-edge digital technology.
Mining outlook in Ecuador
According to the Boletín del Sector Minero from the Central Bank of Ecuador, as of the third quarter of 2024, large-scale mining operations at the Mirador and Fruta del Norte mines had produced a cumulative total of 6.6 million tons, with industrial mining investments exceeding USD 285 million. Key products included copper concentrate, doré gold, and other gold-bearing minerals.
With its participation in Expominas 2025, SPT reaffirms its commitment to technological innovation and the advancement of the mining sector in Latin America, contributing to its sustainable growth through reliable, high-precision solutions.
