- SPT will participate in the 12th International Conference on Sustainable Development in the Minerals Industry (SDIMI), taking place July 14–16 in Medellín, Colombia.
- At Booth 3, the SPT Colombia team will showcase solutions for digitizing exploration workflows and present a technical talk on digital traceability for geological data.
The quality of decisions made throughout an exploration project depends largely on the quality of the geological data available. The more consistent and traceable that data is, the greater the confidence in both the results and the decisions based on them. With this in mind, Stockholm Precision Tools (SPT) will participate in the 12th International Conference on Sustainable Development in the Minerals Industry (SDIMI), to be held from July 14–16 in Medellín, Colombia.
Throughout the event, the SPT Colombia team will be available at Booth 3, where attendees can learn how digitalizing exploration workflows helps reduce errors, improve data quality, and streamline day-to-day exploration activities.
From Drilling to Decision: Preserving the Quality of Geological Data
One of the highlights of SPT’s participation will be the technical presentation by José Daniel Becerra Cabrera, Regional Manager for Latin America at Stockholm Precision Tools, titled “From Drilling to Decision: A Digital Traceability Framework for Reliable Geological Data in Mineral Exploration.”

SPT solutions help reduce errors and improve efficiency across mineral exploration workflows.
The presentation will demonstrate how geological information can remain connected throughout the entire exploration process. From drill planning and borehole surveying to core orientation, structural logging, and geological modeling, the goal is to ensure that data retains its context and quality as it moves from one stage to the next. Building on this approach, the presentation will also share best practices that are already helping transform exploration workflows across the industry.
It will also cover best practices for digital data capture, integrated QA/QC processes, and centralized data management. Together, these practices help produce more consistent data and provide a stronger foundation for technical decision-making.
Beyond the technology itself, the presentation offers a simple but important perspective: the quality of a geological model begins long before the modeling stage—it starts with how data is captured, managed, and maintained from day one of the project.
Solutions for a More Connected Exploration Workflow
At Booth 3, visitors will have the opportunity to explore some of SPT’s solutions designed to digitize field operations and simplify geological data management.

StructMaster™ digitizes structural logging to improve data consistency and traceability.
Among them is StructMaster™, our digital structural logging solution for drill core. Using core photographs, StructMaster™ automatically identifies geological structures and orientation lines, calculates parameters such as Alpha, Beta and Gamma and integrates borehole survey data to determine the true orientation of each structural feature.
One of its key advantages is that all information is stored digitally. In practice, this allows geologists to review data whenever necessary without repeating work already completed in the field. If an interpretation needs to be revisited later, structural orientations can be recalculated without returning to the core shed. This not only reduces reliance on manual processes but also improves consistency between operators while simplifying data review and QA/QC procedures.
Visitors will also see how these solutions integrate with SmartCloud™, a platform that centralizes project information and enables secure access to data, team collaboration, and project monitoring from any location. As a result, field data becomes immediately available to everyone involved in the project. Geologists, supervisors, and project managers can all work from the same up-to-date information, regardless of where they are.

SPT demonstrates how digital workflows help deliver more reliable geological data from the start of a project.
