Chile, April 2025. We are pleased to share that SPT participated in EXPOMIN, the most important mining event in Latin America, to held from April 22 to 25 at the Espacio Riesco, in Huechuraba, Metropolitan Region of Chile.
EXPOMIN has served as a key platform for knowledge exchange, the promotion of innovative technologies aimed at increasing productivity in the mining sector, and the strengthening of professional networks across the entire mining value chain. In its most recent edition, it brought together over 58,000 professional visitors and more than 1,270 exhibitors, including mining companies, public institutions, academia, and technology providers.
This year’s event featured a comprehensive commercial exhibition of products and services related to exploration, waste management, logistics, and metallurgical processes. It also included an international congress with leading experts and authorities in the sector, along with thematic pavilions highlighting technological innovation and this edition’s guest of honor: Finland

During the show, our team of Jorge Hernandez, Jose Donoso Poblete, Luis Ignacio Farfan, Agustina Mercado and Fausto Souza, were available at booth 1-K52 to present our latest technological solutions to improve the precision and efficiency of mining operations
Attendees were able to learn in detail about the Polestar Aligner, used for precise alignment both on the surface and underground ; GyroMaster™ , our solid-state gyroscope that allows continuous surveys at any angle; and StructMaster™ , the only portable device capable of capturing real images of structures directly from the core.
Introduced at this year’s PDAC show, StructMaster™ represented a significant advancement for exploration, geotechnical, and mining engineering by enabling more informed decision-making, reducing operational risk, and improving borehole planning
In addition, on Monday, April 22, from 12:30 to 13:15 in Room 1, we presented a technical paper entitled ‘Data integrity, chain of custody, and quality assurance for instrumental measurements,’ presented by Luis Farfán. We invited attendees to join us and learn more about our approaches to data quality and technology applied to mining.

Mining and Geology in Chile
Recognized worldwide for its leadership in copper and lithium production, Chile faces a pivotal 2025 marked by significant mining and geological advances. Economic growth is projected at 2.7%, driven mainly by the recovery of the mining sector, whose activity will increase by 3.5%.
Mining remains a fundamental pillar of the Chilean economy, contributing nearly 10.9% of GDP and generating more than 34,000 jobs. Next year, copper production is expected to be close to 6 million tons. In this context, investments of approximately US$8 billion are expected, mainly in copper projects such as Los Pelambres and Centinela, led by Antofagasta Minerals, whose expansions are expected to strengthen the country’s competitiveness and productive capacity in the long term.
At a strategic level, Chile has a portfolio of mining projects worth between $81 billion and $83 billion by 2035, including not only copper, but also critical minerals such as lithium, as well as new explorations. Lithium, in particular, plays a central role in the national mining policy: in September 2025, the National Lithium Strategy will be implemented, with the aim of improving the country’s global competitiveness and strengthening its position in the global supply chain of minerals essential for the energy transition.
In parallel, Chile is incorporating advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence to optimize processes, improve safety and reduce environmental impact. These innovations include the use of desalinated water, renewable energy and circular economy principles, in line with a transition to a more sustainable mining model that is adapted to growing international environmental requirements.

Competitive Challenges
Despite its leadership in mining exploration in Latin America – accounting for 24.7% of the regional total – the country faces significant challenges. Growing competition from countries such as Peru and Argentina, coupled with delays in environmental permitting and pending regulatory reforms, are creating uncertainty among investors.
In this scenario, Chile reaffirms its position as a global mining power, based on its leadership in copper and lithium, its investment dynamism and its commitment to sustainability. However, it must resolutely face administrative and competitive challenges in order to maintain its leading role on the international stage.

Our Participation
During the four days of this edition of Expomin, the official launch of StructMaster™ in Chile took place. This structural logging solution generated significant interest among attendees, who not only had the opportunity to appreciate its functionality and ease of use through live demonstrations but also delved into its technical value during a presentation by our geologist, Luis Farfán. In this session, the importance of having a real-time digital chain of custody to ensure data integrity and reliability was highlighted, adding value to project planning, ensuring traceability, and facilitating future audits with accurate information.
The SPT Latin America team had the opportunity to interact with clients from different parts of the world, demonstrating how our tools can transform exploration processes through cutting-edge technology. This participation positioned StructMaster™ as one of the most advanced solutions in the sector, strengthening SPT’s presence in the region.
