- The event is organized by the Agency for Development and Innovation of the Brazilian Minerals Sector (ADIMB).
- This year’s main theme is “Environmental Protection Technologies in Mineral Exploration”.
SIMEXMIN will be held in Ouro Preto, Minas Gerais, from May 19 to 22 at the UFOP Arts and Convention Center, and will bring together various mineral exploration professionals and companies to discuss innovations and developments.
The event aims to identify new directions for the energy transition and brings together the national and international mineral exploration community to discuss issues of interest to the sector. The Symposium will feature thematic sessions with the participation of professionals from industry, academia and government, as well as international experts, covering technical, economic, political, investment and legal, social, environmental and governance aspects intrinsically related to mineral exploration and mining in Brazil.
SIMEXMIN’s program is divided between exhibitions of companies related to the mining sector and lectures by professionals in the field, addressing various topics that debate the work carried out in the field.

Representing Stockholm Precision Tools will be Alfredo Carballeira, Country Manager in Brazil, along with his team Fausto Souza, Sales Executive, Lucas Real, Project Coordinator, and Paula Guedes, Marketing Assistant.
In this edition, we will have a virtual showroom where attendees can interact with the tools most commonly used in our operations.
In addition, some 3D printed replicas of our full-scale designed equipment will be on display, including:
- GyroMaster, the solid-state, north-seeking gyroscope for all downhole applications.
- GyroLogic Evo: a magnetically immune reference gyroscope capable of surveying in continuous and multishot modes
- Polestar Aligner, which ensures precise rig alignment in harsh environments and extreme latitudes.
- GyroScout, the optimal gyroscope for surveying blast holes.
We will also use augmented reality to illustrate the performance of our tools by showing how they work in mineral environments.

Mining in Brazil
Mining plays an important role in Brazil’s economy and has been a fundamental part of the country’s development throughout its history. Brazil is rich in a variety of mineral resources, including iron ore, bauxite, gold, copper, manganese and niobium, among others. The exploitation of these resources has fueled economic growth and industrialization, as well as creating jobs and revenue for the government.
However, mining activities also raise environmental, social and governance challenges and concerns. Issues such as the environmental impact of mining, the rights of affected local communities, workplace safety and the responsible management of natural resources are important considerations for the mining sector in Brazil.
In terms of future aspirations, Brazil is expected to seek a balance between mining-driven economic development and the protection of the environment and the rights of local communities. This may involve investments in cleaner and more sustainable technologies, responsible mining practices and a more transparent and participatory approach with stakeholders.
In addition, with the growing awareness of the importance of the transition to a low-carbon economy and the global demand for metals and minerals needed for green technologies, such as lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles and renewable energy, Brazil can look to diversify its mineral production and explore new opportunities in the global market.
