Medellín, october 2024. Latin America continues to establish itself as one of the richest regions in minerals worldwide, with significant reserves of gold, silver, and copper. In Colombia, mining remains a fundamental pillar of economic growth. Gold, for example, represents 7% of the country’s total exports and 19% of its mining exports.
A recent report from the Colombian Mining Association (ACM) highlights that in 2023, Colombia generated over 5.2 billion dollars in revenue solely from gold production. These results position the country among the top global investors in exploration, ranking as the seventh in Latin America—a key factor for the sustainable development of the industry.
However, studies from the National University of Colombia warn that drilling deviations can increase operational costs by up to 15%, which in 2023 would have implied losses of up to $780 million due to unforeseen deviations in the exploration phase. This underscores the need to prioritize precision in drilling processes to maximize project efficiency, reduce operational costs, and ensure quality control.
“We have observed that many exploration projects face difficulties in accurately locating minerals in the subsurface.
