Stockholm Precision Tools (SPT) will participate in the 54th Annual Yukon Geoscience Forum & Trade Show, taking place November 16–19, 2026, in Whitehorse, Yukon. The SPT Canada team will be at Booth 12 on November 16–17, presenting technologies for drill rig alignment, borehole surveying, digital core orientation, and structural logging.

Organized by the Yukon Chamber of Mines, the forum brings together geoscientists, mineral exploration companies, mining professionals, government representatives, and industry service providers to discuss exploration activities, geological research, and opportunities across the territory.
Held in Whitehorse, the forum features technical presentations, geological posters, core displays, an industry trade show, and networking opportunities.
For Stockholm Precision Tools, the event provides an opportunity to engage with professionals working across mineral exploration and drilling operations, focusing on the collection, review, and management of technical data.
SPT Technologies for Mineral Exploration and Drilling
Mineral exploration projects rely on different types of measurements collected throughout drilling, from the initial positioning of the drill rig to the analysis of recovered core.
At Yukon Geoscience Forum 2026, SPT Canada will present four technologies addressing these measurement requirements.
Each supports a specific stage of the exploration workflow, providing information that can be reviewed and used in subsequent technical and geological assessments.

Polestar Aligner™: Drill Rig Alignment
Establishing the planned drilling direction is an important step before drilling begins.
Polestar Aligner™ is a north-seeking gyroscopic alignment system designed to provide azimuth and inclination references for positioning drilling equipment.
By using a gyroscopic reference rather than relying on magnetic measurements, the system supports drill rig alignment in environments where magnetic interference must be considered.
For exploration operations, the initial alignment measurement provides a directional reference that can be reviewed alongside subsequent borehole surveys.
GyroMaster™ Evo: Borehole Trajectory Surveying
As drilling progresses, borehole surveying provides information about the actual path of the drill hole.
GyroMaster™ Evo is a compact north-seeking gyroscopic surveying system designed to measure borehole azimuth and inclination using true north as its directional reference.
Unlike magnetic surveying instruments, its north-seeking measurement principle does not depend on the local magnetic field.
The resulting survey data allows technical teams to review the borehole trajectory, compare it with the planned path, and maintain a record of directional measurements throughout drilling.
These measurements provide important context for subsequent geological interpretation.

SmartCore™: Digital Core Orientation
Core orientation establishes a reference for determining the original position of geological features observed in recovered drill core.
SmartCore™ is a digital core orientation system integrated directly into the inner tube head assembly.
The system records orientation information during drilling and transfers the relevant data to a compatible handheld device at the surface.
This digital workflow supports the recording and review of core orientation references, providing information required for subsequent structural measurements.
Maintaining these records in digital form also supports their availability for compatible exploration data management workflows.
StructMaster™: Digital Structural Logging
After core recovery, structural logging allows geologists to document geological features such as fractures, veins, bedding, and other structural characteristics.
StructMaster™ is a digital solution for structural logging of oriented drill core.
The system allows structural measurements to be recorded together with images of the corresponding geological features, maintaining the visual context associated with each observation.
It also supports the calculation and subsequent review of structural angles, including alpha and beta measurements.

By retaining measurements and their associated images, StructMaster™ allows geological information to be revisited and checked after the initial logging process, supporting traceability and technical review.
Managing Exploration Data with SmartCloud™
The usefulness of exploration data depends not only on the measurement itself but also on how the information is recorded, organized, and reviewed.
Drill rig alignment, borehole trajectory surveys, core orientation, and structural logging generate different types of technical information. Maintaining appropriate data context across these activities is important when reviewing results and preparing geological interpretations.
Beyond the instruments presented at Yukon Geoscience Forum 2026, SmartCloud™ provides a digital environment for managing data from compatible SPT technologies.
The platform supports data organization, traceability, technical review, and quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) processes.
Its Open REST API also enables authorized access to supported structured borehole survey and trajectory data for external workflows, subject to the relevant integration requirements.
This approach reflects SPT’s focus on supporting consistent data management and interoperability across mineral exploration activities.

Technical Considerations for Field Applications
Each measurement task requires appropriate instrument selection, operating procedures, and data review.
Initial drill rig alignment provides a reference for drilling setup but does not replace subsequent borehole surveying. Similarly, structural measurements require suitable core orientation references and geological context.
These distinctions are important when evaluating measurement requirements and selecting technologies for individual exploration projects.
Meet SPT Canada at Booth 12
SPT Canada will be represented by Olena Skyba and Tetiana Lozynska, who will be available at Booth 12 on November 16–17 during the Yukon Geoscience Forum & Trade Show 2026.
Visitors will have the opportunity to discuss borehole trajectory surveying, drill rig alignment, core orientation, structural logging, and data management with the Canadian team.
The event also provides an opportunity to exchange experiences and discuss the practical measurement and data quality requirements of mineral exploration projects.
